Does Zoho People run I-9 + E-Verify natively?
Zoho People captures Form I-9 (Section 1 and Section 2) electronically with document upload and retains it for the required 3-years-from-hire / 1-year-from-termination window. E-Verify itself is a federal USCIS web service, Zoho People doesn't push directly to E-Verify, so we configure your HR admin's workflow to submit through E-Verify (case number recorded back into the employee record). For high-volume installer hiring we wire an integration via Zoho Creator that automates parts of the submission. Every Pro and Enterprise tier ships this.
How do you handle OSHA-30 expiration tracking?
OSHA-30 cards don't technically "expire" federally, but most solar GCs, utilities and federal jobs require renewal every 5 years (and OSHA-10 every 3-5). We store the original cert with completion date, set a 5-year expiration field, and trigger automated reminders at 90/60/30 days to the employee and safety officer. Same logic for NABCEP (3-yr), fall protection (annual), EVITP (where applicable), CPR/first aid (2-yr), and state journeyman licenses.
Can it handle multi-state PTO for traveling crews?
Yes. Every employee record has a "primary work state" that drives PTO accrual rules, CA paid sick leave (1 hr per 30 worked), NY paid family leave, MA earned sick time, Nevada PTO accrual, etc. For crews that genuinely work across state lines on commercial/utility jobs, we configure the rule to follow primary residence (which is the conservative compliance posture). Talk to us about your specific footprint, we'll wire the correct ruleset.
Salaried vs. hourly, how does the OT calc work?
Each employee is flagged FLSA exempt or non-exempt at onboarding. Non-exempt hourly installers get federal OT > 40/wk, plus California daily OT > 8/day and double-time > 12/day where applicable. Salaried-non-exempt (rare in solar, common in solar back-office) also get OT calculated against a regular rate of pay. Salaried-exempt sales reps and managers get tracked for hours but not OT. Everything FLSA-compliant out of the box.
Do you migrate us off BambooHR / Gusto HR / ADP Workforce Now?
Yes, migration is included in the Pro and Enterprise tiers. Employee records, document libraries, PTO balances, performance history all come across. Most BambooHR migrations land in 7 business days; ADP is usually 10-14 because their export tooling is rougher. We've done this 200+ times.
What about COBRA, FMLA and ACA reporting?
COBRA election notices auto-generate at termination (within the 14-day federal window), we route them via Zoho Sign for delivery proof. FMLA leave is tracked as a leave type with 12-week rolling-year math. ACA: People tracks hours-of-service for variable-hour employees so you know who crosses the 30-hr/wk threshold for offer-of-coverage.
