Truck backs up at your Glendale or Dallas warehouse. Receiver scans the master pallet label, then triggers an ASN-driven serial intake, barcodes flow into Zoho Inventory in seconds. Mismatched quantities, damaged cartons or wrong revisions get flagged before the truck driver leaves.

Each install truck is a virtual warehouse in Zoho Inventory. The night before, the system reads tomorrow's FSM schedule and stages the exact BOM per WO. Crew arrives at 6:50, scans the picklist, rolls out at 7:30. No "did we grab the rapid-shutdown?" texts at 9 AM.

When monitoring flags a dead microinverter on year 4, Desk creates a ticket, FSM dispatches the swap, and Zoho Inventory generates the RMA back to Enphase with the original serial, install date and proof-of-defect photo. The replacement unit ships back, gets received against the open RMA, and the customer's record updates automatically.

How do you handle multiple physical warehouses?
Zoho Inventory's Premium tier ($159/org/mo) supports up to 5 warehouses; Enterprise ($299/org/mo) goes to 15. We model each location, say, your Glendale HQ, Phoenix yard, Dallas depot and Houston dock, as its own warehouse with its own receiving dock, picklist queue and cycle-count schedule. Inter-warehouse transfers are 4-click moves with serial preservation.
Is a truck really a warehouse?
Yes, and it's the cleanest model. Every install truck gets its own virtual warehouse in Zoho. When you load the truck in the morning, it's a transfer-in from your dock. When the crew installs at a customer site, it's a consumption against that truck. End of day, leftover stock is still on the truck (not in some spreadsheet). One of our Phoenix customers cut "missing parts" emergency Home Depot runs by 84% in the first 90 days.
How does the Tesla Powerwall serial flow work?
Powerwall 3 ships with a unique serial that Tesla requires for warranty registration. Our flow captures the serial at receive (barcode scan), binds it to the customer's record at install (crew scans before mounting), and auto-fires the registration to Tesla Energy's warranty API at install-close. The customer gets their 10-year warranty active before the inverter is even commissioned. Same model works for Enphase Encharge.
What happens with returns to manufacturer?
RMAs are a first-class workflow. When monitoring flags a failed unit (or a customer calls in a defect), Zoho Inventory creates an RMA tied to the original serial, install date, customer record, and the FSM swap visit. The defect photo from the truck-roll attaches. The RMA prints with the manufacturer's required form. Replacement-in-transit is tracked against the open RMA, and when it arrives, it auto-reconciles. No "where's my credit memo?" calls.
Can you import our existing serial history?
Yes, via standard CSV intake. If you've got two years of past installs sitting in QuickBooks Items + a spreadsheet of customer addresses + a separate Enphase activation log, we merge them into Zoho Inventory with serial-to-customer bindings preserved. We've migrated 180+ U.S. solar inventory data sets. Typical clean-up: 3-7 days of historical data work, included in Pro and Multi-WH tiers.
What about commercial / utility-scale BOMs?
Same engine handles 500 kW C&I projects. Commercial BOMs are larger (string inverters, transformers, switchgear, fencing) and tracked at the project level with multi-shipment receipts. Utility-scale (5 MW+) projects use the same Zoho Inventory tenant with a project hierarchy and bill-of-quantities import from Aurora or Helioscope. Pro and Multi-WH tiers both cover commercial.
