Custom modules, fields and layouts
New modules for the things you track, lookups that tie them to accounts and deals, and layouts per team so nobody scrolls past fields they never use.
Zoho customization · Deluge development · Los Angeles
Out of the box, Zoho knows how most companies sell and bill. It doesn’t yet know how yours does.
Zoho customization is the work of changing Zoho apps beyond their standard settings: custom modules and layouts, Deluge functions that update records for you, buttons, widgets and small Zoho Creator apps. Our Glendale-led developers write each piece into a signed BRD first, then build, test and hand it over at a fixed price.

01The short answer
It is everything you change in Zoho past the standard settings so the software follows your process. Some of it is point-and-click work in Zoho’s setup screens; the rest is code written in Deluge, Zoho’s own scripting language, or in JavaScript for widgets.
Fields, picklists, layouts, page rules and validation rules, set in Zoho’s settings. A trained admin can own most of this.
Custom modules, related lists, Deluge functions, custom buttons and scheduled jobs. This is where a developer earns their place.
Widgets inside a record, connections to outside systems, and Zoho Creator apps for work that doesn’t fit a CRM module at all.
02When teams call us
Teams whose Zoho works, but only with a lot of copying, checking and remembering around it. These are the four we hear from most.
A value on the deal, again on the quote, again on the invoice. One function can carry it across and remove the typo risk.
Properties, equipment, policies, projects on a job site. A custom module gives it a proper home, linked to the accounts it belongs to.
Discount limits, renewal timing, who approves what. Written into validation rules and functions, it stops depending on that person being in the office.
Stock levels, shipping status, a supplier portal. A widget can show that data right on the record people already have open.
03What we build
Six kinds of deliverable, mixed to suit the job. Each one is listed by name in your BRD with the check that proves it works.
Data model
New modules for the things you track, lookups that tie them to accounts and deals, and layouts per team so nobody scrolls past fields they never use.
Guard rails
The record refuses to save when a discount is over the limit or a contract date is missing, with a message that says what to fix.
Deluge
Deluge functions triggered by workflow rules, schedules or a button: copying values, creating related records, calling another app’s API.
One click
“Create renewal quote”, “Send to warehouse”, “Request approval”. A button runs a function on the record, or on many selected records at once.
Inside the record
Small web components built with Zoho’s widget tools and placed inside a record or a tab, showing data from another system without leaving Zoho.
Beyond CRM
A Zoho Creator app for a process that needs its own screens, plus quote, invoice and email templates that pull the right fields.
04An honest filter
Customize when a step repeats every day, costs money when it goes wrong, or forces people into another screen. Keep it standard when Zoho already has a setting, or when the process is still changing.
05From request to live
It follows the same track as every project we run: scoped and priced first, written into a BRD you sign, dated, then built, demoed, tested and switched on. Scroll to move one sample feature card through each stage.
Renewal quote button
Stage 1 · Discovery call
Your sales lead explains the ask: “When a contract is ten months old, I want one click that builds the renewal quote with last year’s products.” We ask what happens today and who else touches it.
Stage 2 · Scope and budget
The request becomes a list: two new fields, a Deluge function, a custom button on deals and an updated quote template. You get our fixed fee for that list, and any license your Zoho edition needs at Zoho’s list price.
Stage 3 · BRD sign-off
The BRD spells out each piece and its acceptance check, such as “the quote copies every product line and applies the renewal price list.” The project owner signs, with the fee fixed inside.
Stage 4 · Delivery schedule
The feature gets its slot on the delivery schedule, checked against your busy season, so you know when to expect a demo and when it goes live.
Stage 5 · Build and review demo
Our developer builds and tries it away from live records, then shows the working button in a review demo. Changes you ask for here are still small and cheap.
Stage 6 · Testing
QA runs the acceptance checks from the BRD, including odd cases like a deal with no products. Then a rep runs it on their real work and the department head signs off.
Stage 7 · Training and go-live
The button goes live, reps get a short walkthrough, and the function’s notes go into your documentation. Later tweaks can run through a Zoho support plan.

06Try it · your change
Pick the kinds of change you have in mind. For each one you’ll see who usually builds it, what we need from you and how it gets tested. Weights are rough guides for comparing pieces, never quotes.
Some of these depend on your Zoho edition: how many custom modules, functions or widgets you can add varies by plan. We check yours during scoping, before any fee is fixed.
07Four jobs, two ways
The work that relied on memory and copy-paste moves into the system. One of the four below shows when a simple settings change beats custom code, and we would tell you so.
Closing a deal writes the renewal date and opens a check-in task for the account owner ahead of it.
A rep sets a calendar reminder, if they remember, and the renewal surfaces when the customer calls.
A validation rule blocks the quote, and a button sends it for approval with the margin shown.
An email to the manager, a wait, and sometimes a quote that went out anyway.
A widget on the deal shows live stock for each product line before the rep promises a date.
A phone call or a second login to check, then the answer typed into a note.
A function here would add cost and nothing else.
Your admin adds the picklist field in settings in minutes. No developer needed.
08What it costs
Each customization is priced as one fixed sum, written into a BRD you sign before our developers open your account. Three things move that number more than anything else.
One function on one module is a small job. Five functions sharing data across modules, with buttons and templates, is a bigger one.
Calling an outside API means credentials, error handling and a plan for when that system is down.
A change that touches invoices or commissions gets more test cases than one that tidies a layout.
Our feeA fixed price per BRD, with change requests quoted separately for your approval. The opening call is free; a larger customization may start with a short paid scoping phase, priced before it begins.
Zoho licencesSome customization needs a higher Zoho edition. Licences are billed by Zoho at official US prices, listed on each product page, such as Zoho CRM or Zoho Creator.

10Customization questions
Deluge, editions, upgrades and price. If you already have a list of changes, even a rough one, send it before the call.
Zoho customization means changing Zoho apps beyond their standard settings so they follow your process: custom modules, fields and layouts, validation rules, Deluge functions, custom buttons, widgets and Zoho Creator apps. Some of it is done in Zoho’s setup screens; the rest is code.
Deluge is Zoho’s own scripting language, used across Zoho apps such as CRM, Creator, Books and Desk. Functions written in Deluge can read and update records, create related records and call other apps’ APIs. They run when a workflow rule fires, on a schedule or when someone clicks a custom button.
Configuration uses the options Zoho already offers in its settings, such as fields, picklists, layouts and workflow rules. Customization adds things Zoho does not do out of the box, written as Deluge functions, widgets or Creator apps. Good projects use as much configuration as possible and add code only where it pays off.
It depends on the app and on how many custom modules, functions or widgets you need, because Zoho sets those limits by edition. We check your current edition during scoping and tell you if an upgrade is needed before the fee is fixed.
Customizations built on Zoho’s documented functions and APIs are the ones least likely to break. We avoid workarounds that depend on undocumented behavior, write down what each function relies on, and recheck affected pieces when Zoho announces a change that touches them.
Yes. We start by reading the existing functions, rules and widgets and listing what each one does. Anything fragile or unexplained is raised with you before we change it, so a fix in one place does not break another.
Each customization is a fixed price written into a BRD you sign before work starts. The fee depends on how many pieces are involved, whether another system is connected and how much testing the change needs. The first call is free; larger jobs may begin with a short paid scoping phase, priced up front.
Your team can, using the notes we leave on each function and layout. Many clients prefer a Zoho support plan with us, so the same people who built the changes handle fixes and small updates later.
11How customization starts
The code is the quick part. These steps make sure it does the right thing, at a price you agreed, on a date you can plan around.
Customization runs over screen share for teams across the US, Canada and Latin America. Near Los Angeles, we can sit with the people who will use the change while it is specified.
From there the work follows our standard build, demo and test cycle. See how we work →
