Shopify online store design for US brands that want pages they can edit

Every page built from sections your team can move, hide and refill on a Tuesday afternoon, no developer on call.

The online store is the part of Shopify your shoppers actually browse: the theme, its templates and the sections stacked inside them. Our Glendale-led team picks or builds that theme, sets up each template, writes custom sections where the stock ones fall short, trims what slows the page down, and keeps product and stock data flowing from Zoho Inventory.

01The storefront, explained

What is the Shopify online store, and is a theme enough for you?

It’s the sales channel that turns your products into a website. A theme decides the look; templates decide which sections each page type gets; sections and blocks hold the content. For most US brands, a good theme plus a few custom sections covers everything. Here is how we judge it on a first call.

What it is

Theme
Liquid files, styles and settings. One theme is live; others wait as drafts in your library.
Template
A JSON file per page type (home, product, collection) listing its sections in order.
Section
A movable band of the page, like a banner or product grid, edited in the theme editor.
Block
A piece inside a section: a heading, a button, a single review.

When it fits

  • Your marketing team wants to launch a landing page without opening a ticket.
  • You sell a catalog of tens to thousands of products and need tidy collections and filters.
  • A theme from the Theme Store gets you 80 percent there and the rest is brand detail.

When it doesn’t

  • The store front is really an app, with configurators or logged-in dashboards. Look at headless Shopify with Hydrogen.
  • Content is the product and commerce is a side door. A WordPress site with a buy button may suit you better.

02Online store services

Shopify theme work we do for US stores

Most storefront projects mix a few of these. We price the mix, never a bundle you don’t need.

  1. 01

Choosing a theme that won’t fight you

We test two or three candidates against your real catalog: long product names, 40-variant items, odd image ratios. The winner is the one that breaks least, not the prettiest demo.

  2. 02

    Custom sections and blocks

Size charts, ingredient tables, store locators, bundle builders. Written in Liquid with settings your team understands, so each one drops into any template from the editor.

  3. 03

    Templates per product type

A mattress needs a different product page than a candle. We set up alternate templates and fill them from metafields, so specs live on the product record and not pasted into descriptions.

  4. 04

    Speed and accessibility pass

Oversized hero images, app scripts loading on every page, missing alt text, buttons a keyboard can’t reach. We fix them in the theme and remove leftovers from apps you uninstalled.

  5. 05

    Navigation, filters and search

Menus that match how shoppers think, collection filters built on product options and metafields, and search synonyms for the words customers actually type.

  6. 06

    Theme upkeep

When your theme ships a new version, we merge it into your customized copy on a draft, check every template, then publish. Your edits survive the update.

03One homepage, frame by frame

How do we rebuild a Shopify homepage without taking it offline?

We never edit the live theme. A duplicate gets the work, shoppers keep buying from the old one, and you preview the draft on your own phone. Here is a sample rebuild for a home goods brand, six frames from cluttered to published.

  1. Frame 1 · Day 1

    Audit the live page

Fourteen sections, three pop-ups and two sliders. We list each one with who uses it and what it costs in load time.

  2. Frame 2 · Day 2

    Duplicate, then cut

On the draft copy we delete what nobody clicks and hide what marketing still wants to keep for a season.

  3. Frame 3 · Day 4

    New hero section

One image served at the right size per screen, one headline, one button. The old autoplay slider goes.

  4. Frame 4 · Day 6

    Collections that sell

A bestseller grid pulled from a collection, plus a custom shop-by-room section with blocks your team can swap.

  5. Frame 5 · Day 8

    Proof and the sign-up

Reviews move up under the products; the email sign-up joins the footer and feeds the same list your Zoho Campaigns uses.

  6. Frame 6 · Day 10

    Preview, then publish

You review the draft link on desktop and phone, sign off, and we publish. The old theme stays in the library as a fallback.

04Section reorder preview

Which order should your homepage sections go in?

This works like the Shopify theme editor’s sidebar. Drag a section, or use the arrows, and the sample page on the right rebuilds. The eye button hides a section without deleting it. Header and footer stay locked, just as they do in a real theme.

Sample:

    Footer

    6 of 7 sections showing

Move a section to see what changes.

Sample sections and advice for illustration. A JSON template in Shopify can hold up to 25 sections with up to 50 blocks each; real decisions come from your own analytics and heatmaps.

    05Storefront and Zoho

What can your Shopify storefront show from Zoho?

Shoppers never see Zoho, but they feel it when stock counts are right and the order email matches the invoice. These four links between theme and back office come up on nearly every storefront project we run.

Orders, refunds and invoices are a bigger topic. See Shopify and Zoho integration for the full sync.

    06What a storefront costs

How much does a Shopify online store cost to run?

Three bills from Shopify’s side, plus one from us. The online store channel itself comes with every Shopify plan, so you never pay extra just to have a website.

    Monthly

    Your Shopify plan

Basic, Grow, Advanced or Plus. Each includes the online store and its theme editor. Current US plan prices sit on our main Shopify page.

    Free or one-off

    The theme

Shopify offers a set of free themes. Paid Theme Store themes are bought once and licensed to the store that bought them; Plus brands running several storefronts need a license for each.

    Usually monthly

    Apps on the storefront

Reviews, wishlists, size finders. Most bill monthly through Shopify, and many replace something a custom section could do once.

    Fixed, in writing

    Our theme work

Every template, custom section and fix is listed in a BRD you sign, with one fixed price for the lot. Changes after sign-off get their own written quote before we start them.

Theme prices are set by each theme’s developer and shown on its Theme Store listing. When a developer releases a newer major version, it can carry a higher price, so we check the listing before recommending an upgrade.

    07Storefront questions

Shopify online store questions we hear most

Themes, sections, speed and switching without downtime. Send your store link before the call and we’ll have looked at the theme already.

What is the Shopify online store?

It is the sales channel in Shopify that publishes your products as a website. It runs on a theme made of templates, sections and blocks, and comes included with every Shopify plan. You edit it in the theme editor under Online Store in the Shopify admin.

Can I change my Shopify theme without coding?

Yes, for most changes. Online Store 2.0 themes let you add, remove, hide and reorder sections on every page type in the theme editor, and change colors, fonts and text in theme settings. Code is needed only for new kinds of sections or behavior the theme does not offer, which is where we come in.

Should I use a free Shopify theme or buy a paid one?

A free theme from Shopify is a solid start for a small catalog. A paid theme earns its price when it already has the features you would otherwise add with apps, such as mega menus, quick view or richer product pages. We test both against your real products before you buy anything.

What does Online Store 2.0 mean?

It is Shopify’s theme architecture that uses JSON templates, so sections can go on any page and not only the homepage. It also supports app blocks and metafields in the editor. Older themes that lack it are usually worth replacing rather than patching.

How many sections can a Shopify page have?

A JSON template can render up to 25 sections, and each section can hold up to 50 blocks. In practice a fast homepage uses far fewer; we usually aim for six to ten.

How do I switch Shopify themes without breaking my store?

Add the new theme to your library or duplicate the current one, build and test on that unpublished copy, preview it on desktop and phone, then publish. Your products, orders and customers are not part of the theme, so they stay untouched. Keep the old theme in the library in case you need to roll back.

Why is my Shopify store slow, and can you fix it?

The usual causes are oversized images, scripts left behind by uninstalled apps, too many apps loading on every page and heavy sliders or videos above the fold. We measure the live theme, fix those in a duplicate, and show you before and after numbers from the same tests.

Do you build fully custom Shopify themes?

Yes, when a theme from the Theme Store would need more rewriting than building fresh. Most US brands are better served by a strong existing theme plus custom sections, which is cheaper to maintain and keeps receiving updates.

Can my Shopify store show stock from Zoho Inventory?

Yes. When Zoho Inventory pushes quantities to Shopify, the theme’s sold-out labels and low-stock badges reflect your warehouse counts. We set up the sync and the theme logic together.

How much does a Shopify store design cost with Elite Tech Global?

We quote one fixed price per project, written into a signed BRD that lists every template and custom section. Shopify’s plan fee, any paid theme and app subscriptions are paid to Shopify and the developers directly. The first call costs nothing.

    08How a storefront project starts

Four steps between your current theme and a signed plan

A handful of custom sections can often be scoped while we talk. A full redesign across many templates may need a short paid design phase first, priced before it begins.

Theme projects run on video calls for brands across the US, Canada and Latin America; Los Angeles teams can review drafts with us in Glendale.
