01Why Zoho Billing

Why US SaaS teams pick Zoho Billing over Chargebee and Stripe Billing

Zoho Billing charges a flat monthly fee per company. Most subscription billing tools take a percentage of what you bill instead. The Premium plan covers recurring and usage-based billing, proration, dunning, hosted payment pages and a self-service portal for $79 a month billed yearly. These are the six reasons US founders and finance leads give us when they choose it.

  1. 01

Your fee stays flat as revenue grows

Premium is $79 a month on a yearly plan, for up to $1M billed a year. At $50K a month, Stripe Billing’s pay-as-you-go rate of 0.7% comes to $350 a month in billing fees alone, before card processing.

Stripe Billing: 0.7% of billing volume
  2. 02

    Failed cards get chased automatically

Dunning retries the charge at intervals you choose, emails the customer, and when the dunning period ends it does what you decided: mark the invoice unpaid, void it, or cancel the subscription.

  3. 03

Mid-cycle changes bill to the day

When someone upgrades, downgrades or adds seats, Zoho Billing raises the prorated invoice and the credit note for unused days on its own. You can switch proration off per subscription, and prorate flat coupons too.

  4. 04

Bill by API call, seat, minute or credit

Send usage through the REST API or enter it by hand. Price it per unit, with overages, tiers, volume bands, packages or prepaid credits, and the invoice reflects actual use at the end of the cycle.

  5. 05

    Customers fix their own billing

In the portal, subscribers update their card, pause, resume or cancel, add add-ons and coupons, and even extend a trial. Fewer “please update my card” tickets land on your team.

  6. 06

Keep the payment gateway you already trust

Connect Stripe, Authorize.Net, Braintree, PayPal, Forte, GoCardless or Verifone, and take ACH through Stripe, Forte, Authorize.Net or Zoho Payments. Hosted payment pages are PCI-compliant by default.

Already on Zoho? Invoices and payments sync to Zoho Books for the ledger, subscription data shows on the customer in Zoho CRM, and your support team sees billing history in Zoho Desk. All three come in the Zoho One bundle.

What does a mid-cycle upgrade cost? Let Zoho Billing do the proration

Zoho Billing prorates by the day. It credits the unused part of the old plan, charges the new plan for the days left, and nets the two. Pick two plans and the day of the change, and see the invoice and credit note it would raise. The plan names and prices here are made up.

04Zoho Billing pricing in the US

Zoho Billing pricing: a flat fee per company, whatever you bill

Zoho Billing is priced per organization. Standard is $39 a month billed yearly ($50 monthly) with 3 users, for one-time invoicing. Premium is $79 a month billed yearly ($100 monthly) with 10 users, and it’s the plan with subscriptions, usage billing, proration and dunning. Both cover up to 100,000 invoices and $1M billed a year. Bigger than that, Enterprise is quoted. Extra users are $7.50 a month on a yearly plan, $9 monthly.

05Zoho Billing vs Chargebee, Stripe Billing and Maxio

Zoho Billing vs Chargebee, Stripe Billing and Maxio at $50K a month

Most subscription billing platforms charge a share of what you bill, so the fee grows with you. Zoho Billing stays at a flat monthly price until you pass $1M a year. Here’s what that looks like for a US SaaS business billing $50K a month. Card and ACH processing fees are extra on every one of them.

Same revenue, same year: Zoho Billing comes in $3,252 under Stripe Billing in billing fees. Paid monthly instead ($100 a month), it’s $1,200 for the year, still the lowest.

Why we put Zoho Billing in front of most US subscription businesses

  1. The fee doesn’t grow with your MRR. Going from $20K to $80K a month doesn’t change your Zoho Billing price as long as you stay under $1M a year.
  2. Dunning, proration, metered billing and hosted payment pages are all inside Premium. No separate add-ons to price out.
  3. You keep your gateway. Stripe, Authorize.Net, Braintree, PayPal and others plug in, so moving billing doesn’t mean moving payments.
  4. Quotes, one-time invoices, projects and timesheets live in the same app, which helps if you sell services alongside the subscription.
  5. It talks to the rest of Zoho. Payments land in Zoho Books, subscription status shows in Zoho CRM, and Zoho Analytics can chart MRR and churn next to sales data.
  6. Custom fields, modules, workflows and Deluge functions let us fit it to how you sell.

Where another tool can make sense: if you bill well over $1M a year with complex contracts and multiple entities, look hard at Chargebee, Maxio or Zoho Billing Enterprise side by side. If you’re an early-stage startup already deep in Stripe with a tiny billing volume, Stripe Billing’s percentage can cost less than a flat fee for a while. We’ll run your actual numbers on the first call.

List prices in USD per month, before promotions. Zoho Billing is per organization. Percentage-based tools are shown at their standard pay-as-you-go rates. Chargebee and Stripe Billing change their revenue-share tiers from time to time, so we re-check them against your monthly billing volume before you switch.

06Switching billing systems

Moving off Chargebee, Recurly or Stripe Billing to Zoho Billing

Billing migration is the riskiest part, because live subscriptions keep renewing while you move. Our Zoho Billing migration team maps plans, add-ons, coupons and customers, carries each subscription over with its next renewal date, and plans the card move with your gateway so customers don’t re-enter details where the gateway allows it. Pick the billing tool you use today to see where each plan, coupon and subscription lands.

07Zoho Billing integrations

Where Zoho Billing sends the money data next

A subscription touches sales, support and accounting. These are the Zoho Billing integrations we set up most for US companies: the gateways that take the money, Zoho Books for the ledger, Zoho CRM and Zoho Desk for the people talking to customers. Selling physical products online too? We’d look at Zoho Commerce for the storefront. Hover a tile to see which invoices, payments or subscription details move.

Before you switch: the Zoho Billing questions we hear most

Straight answers on Zoho Billing pricing, Chargebee and Stripe Billing migration, dunning and setup. Got a billing question we missed? We’ll walk through your plans and invoices on a discovery call. The first one is free.

What is Zoho Billing?

Zoho Billing is Zoho’s billing and subscription management software. It handles quotes, one-time invoices, recurring subscriptions, usage-based billing, trials, proration, dunning, hosted payment pages and a self-service customer portal, and it connects to payment gateways like Stripe, Authorize.Net and PayPal and to Zoho Books and Zoho CRM. It used to be called Zoho Subscriptions.

How much does Zoho Billing cost in the USA?

Zoho Billing is priced per organization. Billed yearly in USD, Standard is $39 a month with 3 users and Premium is $79 a month with 10 users. Billed monthly, they are $50 and $100. Subscription billing, usage billing, proration and dunning are on Premium. Enterprise is quoted. Extra users cost $7.50 a month billed yearly. Our work on your plan catalog, gateways and migration is a separate fixed price, written into a signed BRD.

Which Zoho Billing plan do I need for subscriptions?

Premium. Standard covers quotes, one-time invoices, projects and the customer portal. Premium adds subscription billing, metered billing, proration, dunning, hosted payment pages and in-app purchases. Both plans cover up to 100,000 invoices and $1M billed a year.

Zoho Billing vs Chargebee: which is better for a US SaaS company?

For most US SaaS companies billing under $1M a year, Zoho Billing costs far less because it charges a flat fee instead of a share of revenue. Premium is $79 a month billed yearly, while Chargebee’s billing plans are priced as a percentage of billing volume. Chargebee can make sense for larger companies with complex multi-entity setups. We compare both against your real numbers on the discovery call.

Zoho Billing vs Stripe Billing: why not just use Stripe?

You can keep Stripe as your payment gateway and use Zoho Billing for the subscriptions. Stripe Billing charges 0.7% of billing volume on its pay-as-you-go plan, so at $50K a month that is about $350 a month in billing fees, against $79 for Zoho Billing Premium. Zoho Billing also lets you add other gateways and syncs with Zoho Books and Zoho CRM.

Does Zoho Billing handle dunning and failed payments?

Yes, on Premium. Zoho Billing retries failed auto-charges at intervals you choose, sends reminders and payment-failure emails, and when the dunning period ends it can mark the invoice unpaid, void it or cancel the subscription. A dunning report shows what was recovered.

Can Zoho Billing do usage-based or metered billing?

Yes. You send usage through the Zoho Billing API or enter it by hand, and price it per unit, with overages, tiers, volume pricing, packages or prepaid credits. The invoice at the end of the cycle reflects actual usage.

Which payment gateways work with Zoho Billing in the US?

Zoho Billing connects to Stripe, Authorize.Net, Braintree, PayPal, Forte, GoCardless and Verifone, plus Zoho Payments. ACH payments work through Stripe, Forte, Authorize.Net and Zoho Payments. Your gateway charges its usual processing fees.

Can you migrate us from Chargebee, Recurly or Stripe Billing to Zoho Billing?

Yes. We map plans, add-ons, coupons and customers, move each live subscription with its next renewal date, and plan the saved-card move with your gateway. We run a dry billing cycle you check, then cut over between renewal runs so nobody is charged twice or skipped.

How long does Zoho Billing setup take?

It depends on how many plans and pricing models you have, how many live subscriptions move over, and which gateways and integrations you need. The signed BRD gives every plan, gateway, integration and subscription batch its own date, and the cutover lands between renewal runs.

Is Zoho Billing good for a small business?

Yes. Zoho Billing for small business starts at $39 a month billed yearly for one-time invoicing, and $79 a month for subscriptions, with up to 10 users included. Because the price is flat, a small team keeps the same bill as revenue grows, up to $1M a year.

Does Zoho Billing work with Zoho Books and Zoho CRM?

Yes. Invoices, payments and credit notes sync to Zoho Books for accounting, and subscription and billing details show on the customer in Zoho CRM. Zoho Desk, Zoho Analytics, Zoho Sign and Zoho SalesIQ connect too.

Do you provide Zoho Billing support and training after go-live?

Yes. After go-live our Zoho Billing consultants help with new plans and price changes, dunning tweaks, integrations and Zoho Billing training for new staff, online or on-site in Southern California.

Does Zoho Billing have a customer self-service portal?

Yes. The customer portal is included from the Standard plan at $39 a month billed yearly. Premium at $79 adds hosted payment pages on top, along with subscription billing and dunning.

What is SI?

SI stands for super intelligence. In September 2026 a US executive order asked federal agencies to use “super intelligence” or “SI” in place of “artificial intelligence” in official communications. Most businesses still say AI, so we use both terms.

10How a Zoho Billing project starts

We write the Zoho Billing plan down before we touch your plans

Four steps settle what you’re getting and what it costs, in writing, before any setup. A new subscription business with a few plans is often scoped on the first call. Bigger jobs, like moving thousands of live subscriptions off Chargebee across several gateways, may need a paid scoping and BRD phase, and we’ll quote that up front.

Zoho Billing projects run online for subscription businesses across the US, Canada and Latin America, with in-person sessions in Southern California when your finance team wants them.
