Shopify B2B setup for US brands that also sell wholesale

Your cafe accounts, grocery buyers and distributors each log in and see their own prices, minimums and terms.

Shopify B2B is the wholesale layer built into Shopify itself: company accounts with several locations, catalogs that set who sees which products at what price, quantity rules, price breaks and net payment terms. As a Shopify Partner in Glendale, we design those price lists with your sales team, load your trade customers, set up the reorder flow and push every wholesale order into Zoho Inventory and Zoho Books so invoices and stock stay honest.

01Is Shopify B2B enough?

Who is Shopify B2B built for, and when does it fall short?

Shopify B2B suits brands whose wholesale buyers order the same catalog as shoppers, just at negotiated prices, in cases, on terms. It struggles when every quote is custom engineered or the price depends on a contract formula your ERP calculates. Here is how we sort it on a first call.

Where it earns its keep

  • Brands selling to shops and to shoppers. One product set, one inventory count, retail and trade prices living side by side in a blended store.
  • Reorder-heavy accounts. Cafes, salons, clinics and grocers who buy the same SKUs every few weeks love the quick order list and one-click reorders.
  • Tiered price lists. A handful of tiers (cafe, grocery, distributor) map neatly onto catalogs with a percentage off or fixed prices per variant.
  • Net terms without a separate portal. Buyers check out with Net 30 or Net 60, add a PO number, and pay later by ACH or a stored card.

Where we suggest something else

  • Hundreds of one-off price agreements. Below Plus you get three catalogs in total, so per-account pricing at scale means Plus, or keeping price logic in Zoho Inventory.
  • Configure-to-order quoting. Made-to-spec products with engineering review belong in a CRM quote flow; Zoho CRM quotes can still end as a Shopify draft order.
  • Deposits and split payments on a lower plan. Deposit rules and partial payments are Plus features, so we plan around them or budget for the upgrade.

02Shopify B2B services

What we set up when a US brand opens a Shopify wholesale channel

Turning B2B on takes a minute. Getting companies, catalogs, rules and terms right, so reps stop fixing orders by hand, is the actual project. These are the pieces we deliver.

  1. Price architecture

We turn your spreadsheet of tiers and exceptions into a small set of catalogs, decide which use a percentage and which need fixed prices, and plan price breaks product by product.

Delivered as a catalog map your sales lead signs off

  2. Company and buyer import

Trade accounts become Shopify companies with ship-to locations, buyer contacts, location permissions, tax exemptions and the right payment terms on each location.

Imported by CSV, then spot-checked per account

  3. Trade storefront

Login-only collections, a quick order list on the product page, case pack messaging, a PO number field and reorder links in the customer account. Retail shoppers never see any of it.

Theme changes kept in your Git repo

  4. Terms, invoices and collections

Net terms per location, payment reminders, ACH and vaulted cards, draft orders for phone-in buyers, and a clear rule for which system owns the invoice.

Tested with a live order before launch

  5. Automation and back office

Shopify Flow rules on B2B orders (credit holds, rep alerts, tags), plus the sync to Zoho Inventory, Zoho Books and Zoho CRM so wholesale numbers reach finance the same day.

Every rule documented with its trigger

03A wholesale reorder, line by line

What happens between a cafe’s purchase order and a paid invoice?

Below is one sample reorder from a cafe group on Net 30, written the way your bookkeeper would read it. Each row is a real step in Shopify or Zoho; the right-hand column is what that buyer still owes. Scroll and the entries post one after another.

  1. Storefront

Buyer signs in and opens last month’s orderThe quick order list loads 48 bags of House Blend and 24 bottles of cold brew at Harbor Street’s catalog prices.

Sample data. Net terms in Shopify count from the day the order is placed, which is why the due date is Nov 13.

04Price list and volume tier builder

Try pricing one wholesale product the way Shopify B2B does

Pick a buyer tier or set your own: a catalog discount off retail, a minimum and a case increment, then up to three quantity price breaks. Move the order slider and watch which price the buyer actually pays, and whether checkout would accept the cart.

Sample tier:

House Blend, 2 lb bagRetail price $24.00 · Sample product

Quantity rules
Volume price breaks (fixed unit price at or above a quantity)

Leave a row’s quantity empty to drop that break. Shopify allows up to ten per product.

Working it out…

Sample prices for illustration. In Shopify, once a quantity break applies, its fixed price replaces the catalog percentage for that product, and quantities count per variant, so 5 of one roast plus 5 of another don’t combine into a 10-unit break.

    05Shopify B2B + Zoho

How Shopify wholesale orders connect to Zoho Inventory, Books and CRM

Shopify is a fine place for trade buyers to order. Your receivables, warehouse counts and account history usually belong somewhere sturdier. These four links are the ones we build most often for wholesalers, using Zoho Flow for simple hops and custom code where volume or logic demands it.

    06What Shopify B2B costs

Do you need Shopify Plus for B2B, or will a regular plan do?

There is no separate B2B fee. Wholesale features come with your Shopify plan, and the gap between Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus is mostly about how many catalogs you get and how flexible payments can be. Current plan prices sit on our Shopify pricing overview; the table below covers only what changes for B2B.

    07B2B questions

Shopify B2B and wholesale questions from US merchants

Plans, catalogs, terms and how trade orders reach your books. Bring a sample of your current wholesale price sheet to the call and we can answer the rest against your real numbers.

Does Shopify B2B require Shopify Plus?

No. Basic, Grow and Advanced include the core B2B tools: companies with locations, B2B catalogs, quantity rules, volume price breaks, net payment terms, PO numbers and quick reorders. Plus adds unlimited catalogs, catalogs assigned directly to a single company, deposits and partial payments.

How many B2B catalogs can I have on Basic, Grow or Advanced?

Up to three active B2B catalogs in total, counted across all of your B2B markets. Shopify Plus allows an unlimited number. Three is enough for many brands with clear tiers such as cafe, grocery and distributor, but not for unique pricing per account.

Can I sell wholesale and retail from the same Shopify store?

Yes. Shopify supports a blended store, where retail shoppers and logged-in trade buyers share one storefront and see different prices, or a dedicated B2B store. We usually recommend blended for brands with one product range, and a separate store when trade buyers need a very different catalog or experience.

What payment terms does Shopify B2B support?

Net 7, Net 15, Net 30, Net 45, Net 60 and Net 90, counted from the day the order is placed, plus due on fulfillment. Terms are set per company location, and Shopify can send payment reminders. Buyers can pay later by card, a vaulted card on file or ACH in the US.

How does volume pricing work in Shopify B2B?

Inside a catalog you can give a product up to ten quantity price breaks, each with its own fixed unit price. Breaks apply per variant, must be above the minimum and a multiple of the increment, and once one applies the catalog percentage no longer changes that price.

Is native Shopify B2B better than a wholesale pricing app?

For most brands we start with native B2B, because prices, terms and reorders run through Shopify checkout with no extra app script on the storefront. An app can still make sense on a lower plan when you need per-customer pricing beyond three catalogs and Plus is not on the table yet.

Can our sales reps place orders for wholesale customers?

Yes. Staff can build draft orders for a company location, apply its catalog prices and terms, and send an invoice, and sales staff permissions can limit a rep to the companies they manage. Phone and email orders end up in the same flow as online ones.

How do Shopify B2B orders get into Zoho Books and Zoho Inventory?

We sync each wholesale order into Zoho Inventory as a sales order with the company and PO number, then into Zoho Books as an invoice with matching terms. Payments taken in Shopify are applied to that invoice, so receivables and stock counts include trade sales.

How long does a Shopify B2B setup take?

It depends on how many tiers, trade accounts and special terms you have and whether Zoho is part of the build. After the account and price review, every catalog, import and integration gets its own date in the BRD schedule before work starts.

    08How a B2B project starts

From a messy price sheet to a signed wholesale plan

Wholesale setups go wrong when one exception gets forgotten, so we collect them all before configuring anything. A brand with three tiers and standard terms is often scoped right on the call.

B2B rollouts run over video with teams across the US, Canada and Latin America; sales teams near Los Angeles can walk through their accounts with us in Glendale.
