Zoho partner for Houston · led from Glendale, CA
Your Houston crews, bids and invoices in one Zoho system
For companies that run on field work, contracts and shipments, not on a sales floor.
A typical Houston firm keeps its rate sheets in Excel, its crew schedule on a whiteboard and its plant paperwork in somebody’s truck. We put all of it on Zoho, set up for Central Time and Texas rules, and our LA team stays with you after go-live.

01The short answer
Is Zoho right for Houston businesses?
For most small and mid-sized Houston companies, yes. The metro is full of firms with 20 to 300 people that sell to a few large accounts, send crews to job sites and bill against contracts, and Zoho covers that whole chain without enterprise licence costs.
Houston’s economy is less about retail and more about work done for other businesses: oilfield services feeding operators in the Energy Corridor, contractors keeping plants along the Ship Channel running, specialty clinics orbiting the Texas Medical Center, freight forwarders near the Port. Those companies rarely need a giant CRM. They need bids, safety paperwork, crews and invoices to line up.
Where Zoho is the wrong pick, we say so. A company already deep in SAP for plant maintenance, for example, may only want Zoho on the sales side, and that is a fine answer.

02Five Houston industries
Which Houston industries does Zoho fit best?
The ones that juggle contracts, crews and documents. Tap a card to see which Zoho apps carry that work and what we would set up first.
03Texas in the setup
What do Texas rules change in a Zoho setup?
Less than California, more than people expect. No state income tax makes payroll simpler, but the franchise tax, layered local sales tax and a state privacy law all show up as fields and settings.
- 1 of 6
No personal income tax
Texas withholds no state income tax from wages.
We configureZoho Payroll with Texas as a no-withholding state, while staff living in other states keep their own state setup.
- 2 of 6
Franchise (margin) tax
Most entities file a yearly report in May, and the tax is figured on a margin that can be calculated more than one way.
We configureZoho Books accounts that keep cost of goods and compensation clean, so your CPA can pull each version quickly.
- 3 of 6
State and local sales tax
The state rate stacks with city, county, transit and special district rates, and Texas taxes some services, such as data processing.
We configureTax groups per local area in Zoho Books and a taxable flag on each service item your CPA confirms.
- 4 of 6
Payroll registration
Employers open an unemployment tax account with the Texas Workforce Commission and report new hires to the state.
We configureThe account number and yearly rate in Zoho Payroll, plus a new-hire checklist in Zoho People.
- 5 of 6
Texas Data Privacy and Security Act
Sensitive data such as health details needs consent, and people can opt out of data sales and targeted ads, including by browser signal.
We configureConsent fields with date and source, opt-out flags that stop campaigns, and a request log with due dates.
- 6 of 6
Trade licensing
The state licenses electricians and air conditioning contractors through TDLR, and plumbers through their own board.
We configureLicence numbers and expiry dates on each technician in Zoho FSM, so nobody unlicensed gets dispatched.
This is setup guidance, not legal or tax advice. Your CPA and counsel decide how each rule applies to you; we turn their answers into Zoho fields, tax groups and approvals.
04Three Houston builds
What would we build for a Houston company first?
Three builds we would sketch on a first call, each named for the job it does. Pick one to see the apps and the flow from start to finish.
Energy Corridor bid and contract tracker
SampleZoho CRM
Zoho Creator
For a service company that bids on work from a handful of operators.
- Request comes inAn RFQ from an operator’s supplier portal is logged against that operator’s MSA.
- Estimator prices itLine items pull from the current rate sheet, so nobody quotes last year’s day rate.
- Manager approvesBids above a set value wait for the operations manager before they go out.
- Award becomes a contractWinning bids open a contract record with insurance certificates and prequalification status.
- Renewal warningThe account rep gets a task well before the MSA or a certificate runs out.
Field crews with safety checklists
SampleZoho FSM
Zoho Creator
For an industrial services contractor with crews at several plants.
- Work order dispatchedThe dispatcher assigns a crew lead whose site training and licences are current.
- Safety check before workThe crew lead completes the job safety analysis on a phone, with photos, before the job can start.
- Stop-work flagAny hazard marked on site alerts the safety coordinator straight away.
- Hours and materials loggedTime and parts go onto the work order, feeding job cost the same day.
- Service report signedThe site contact signs on the device and the invoice draft is ready for billing.
Port shipment and invoice tracker
SampleZoho Creator
Zoho Books
For a forwarder or importer moving containers through Houston.
- Booking loggedContainer number, vessel, terminal and consignee go on one shipment record.
- Broker updates entryThe customs broker’s status and documents attach to the shipment, not to an email thread.
- Free time counts downThe record shows days left before storage or demurrage charges begin.
- Drayage pickupThe trucker’s pickup and delivery times are logged with proof of delivery.
- Invoice with extrasZoho Books bills freight plus any chassis, storage or waiting charges in one invoice.
05From Glendale to Houston
How do we work with Houston teams?
Our Los Angeles team works with Houston companies by video, during Central Time business hours, with on-site visits when a project really needs them. The senior team is on your first call, and the people you meet are the people who build.
We are led from Glendale and do not keep a Houston address. In practice that matters less than people fear: plant managers and clinic owners are already used to video calls with vendors, and screen-sharing a Zoho build is easier than crowding round a laptop.
- Your hours, not oursA 10 am Houston call is 8 am for us, so mornings are open for you. Support covers US Pacific and CET hours.
- A first workshop that fitsFor a 60-person industrial services firm with an office near the Ship Channel, the first workshop maps one job from bid to invoice: who touches it, what paper it creates and where it stalls.
- On site when it pays offGo-live training for a large field crew, or a walk through a yard, can justify a trip. We agree that in the BRD, never as a fixed schedule.
- Built for hurricane seasonZoho runs in the cloud, so a flooded office or a week without power in summer does not stop dispatch. Crews keep working from their phones.
06Leaving the old tools
What do Houston companies usually move off?
Mostly spreadsheets and QuickBooks, sometimes Salesforce bought for a sales team that turned out to be three people. Each move has its own page with the steps.
- From spreadsheetsThe crew board, the bid log and the certificate tracker usually live in separate workbooks. We merge them into one record per job and keep the column names your foremen know.Spreadsheets to Zoho CRM →
- From QuickBooksField contractors outgrow it when every job needs its own cost tracking. Your chart of accounts, open invoices and Texas tax setup move into Zoho Books together.QuickBooks to Zoho Books →
- From SalesforceCommon when a company bought it for operator relationships and never connected it to the field. Accounts, contacts and open bids come across; the old org goes read-only at cutover.Salesforce to Zoho CRM →
07Licences and our fee
What does Zoho cost a Houston company?
Take a 40-person industrial services firm where 12 people work in the office. Zoho CRM, a Creator app and Zoho Books come to about $436 a month on yearly billing, paid straight to Zoho.
Zoho CRM runs $14, $23, $40 or $52 per user per month on yearly plans, or $20, $35, $50 and $65 month to month. Zoho FSM is priced by appointment volume with the field users included, so adding a welder does not add a seat. If almost everyone needs an app, Zoho One at $37 per employee for the whole company can come out ahead, and we price both before you choose.
Our part is a fixed price, written into the BRD you sign before any build starts. The discovery call is free; bigger multi-site projects may need a paid scoping stage first, and you approve that price in advance.
Monthly licence statement12 office users · yearly billingSample

Before Texas sales tax. Zoho FSM, if added, is billed by appointments, not seats.

Questions from Houston companies
Time zones, site visits, Texas tax and cost. If yours is not here, ask it on the call.
Do you work on-site in Houston?
Our team is led from Glendale, so most of the work happens by video in Central Time hours. We travel for workshops or go-live training when the project needs it, and we agree any visit in the BRD up front.
What hours can we reach you from Houston?
Houston is two hours ahead of Glendale all year, since both cities change clocks on the same dates. A 10 am call your time is 8 am for us, so we book meetings inside your normal working day. Support also covers CET hours.
Can Zoho Books handle Texas sales tax for Houston?
Yes. We set up tax groups that combine the state rate with the city, county, transit and special district rates for the areas you sell into, and mark which of your services are taxable. Your CPA confirms the rates and taxability before go-live.
How does Zoho handle the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act?
Zoho stores what the law asks you to track: consent for sensitive data with a date and source, opt-outs from sales and targeted ads, and a log of access or deletion requests with due dates. Your counsel decides what applies to your company.
Can Zoho connect to the tools Houston contractors already use?
Usually. Operator supplier portals, prequalification services, payroll providers and accounting files can be connected by API, by scheduled import or by a simple upload step. We check every tool on the discovery call before promising a connection.
Will Zoho keep running during a hurricane or power cut?
Zoho is hosted in Zoho's US data centers, not in your building, so the system stays up even if your office is closed. Crews and staff can keep working from phones on mobile data, and the mobile apps save some work offline until the signal returns.
How much does a Zoho project cost for a Houston company?
Zoho licences are paid to Zoho at their official US prices; our sample 12-user setup comes to about $436 a month on yearly plans. Our own work is a fixed price in the signed BRD, and the first discovery call costs nothing.
